On the winged one I have 2 TL devourers, +1 S and BS, warpfield and flesh hooks any thing on top of that is situational

the other on has +1 S and BS, warpfield, flesh hooks, venom cannon and barbed strangler.

Nice work there, really impressive.

Gotta ask, what's your painting method for the edges of the carapace (colour combinations etc.)

I've been trying to get the feathering effect on my own tyranids but it's not worked so far (I am on smaller models it has to be said.)

One more thing, did you gloss-varnish the skin and leave the carapace? That's what I've got on mine.

Well, its actually very simple, you just have to be paitent.

I used three colours Chaos Black, Codex Grey, Skull White.

First do your base coat (black), then you paint small lines of various lengths with codex grey along the edges.

Now do the same with skull white expect do it half the length the of the codex grey lines or you can even do them randomly along the line.

Now that is the very simple version, the harder one is blending where you start with your base and mix the next colour into and do the lines until you are up to the colour you mixed it with, then repeat.

I dont use GWs varnish because both of their varnishes are Glossy, and they arent very good.

I didnt use varnish on these suckers but if you can get a hold of some Testors Dull coat its awesome if you can get it. Short of that dont bother varnishing at all because its plastic and chips are rare, wearing down the colour is the only worry but as long as you take care of it, then dont worry.
